CoppaFeel! sisters are #BreastMates
I'm too busy for cancer
CoppaFeel! founders Kris Hallenga and her twin sister Maren joined Lorraine to talk about the importance of checking your boobs and urging your #breastmates to do the same.
Kris tells us why her sister's so important to her and why she's her 'breast mate'.
CoppaFeel! is a charity on a mission to get you checking your boobs and raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of breast cancer.
After noticing a lump in her breast in 2008, Kris did the done thing and went straight to her GP, but was sent away on the basis that, at her young age, it was bound to be hormonal.
Eight months later, Kris discovered that not only did she have breast cancer, but that it was at stage four, the most advanced type of breast cancer, and had spread to her spine. She was just 23.
"One of my first thoughts was, I'm 23 and I'm going to die," Kris said.
But Kris has made it her full-time mission to encourage her friends, her generation, and young people everywhere to keep hold of their wonderful, carefree lives by getting to know their boobs.
"The more work we do, the more we see the importance of it and a reason not to stop," Kris said.
"I'm too busy for cancer."
Maren said: "I wish we'd had more conversations about our boobs and bodies before she was diagnosed.
"I think chatting and being there for your friends and being that constant reminder is so important."
