Corrie's Patti Clare on Mary's 'dark' child abuse storyline

It's literally turned her world upside down and of course she's out of her depth, of course she doesn't know what she's doing

She's Lorraine's favourite Coronation Street character and it's easy to see why.

For 10 years Mary has brought plenty of comedy to the cobbles but recently her storylines have become somewhat darker.

Since her estranged son, his wife and their baby, George, turned up on the Street, Mary has been at logger heads with her daughter-in-law, Angie.

But things are about to go from bad to worse when Mary's son and Angie accuse her of harming George...

And the couple have reason to be concerned - the toddler seems to fall ill every time he's in her company and next week he ends up in hospital.

Is Mary a secret abuser or is there an innocent explanation?

''There's a lot of secrets, everybody has their secrets, and there's more to be revealed,'' Patti said teasing upcoming episodes.

We're intrigued to see how this dramatic storyline plays out...
