Celebrating 20 years of the 'empowering' Harry Potter books with Luna Lovegood!

Evanna Lynch is best known for playing Luna Lovegood in the Harry Potter film series.

Incredibly, today marks 20 years since the first Harry Potter book was released in the UK. Yes, we're feeling old too!

Evanna was an avid fan of the books and, remarkably, she wrote to JK Rowling to express her love for her writing long before she landed the role of Luna.

Today, the actress opened up about how the books helped her cope with her eating disorder.

I felt that Harry Potter was the only thing that really took my mind off it and it was such a gift. Luna, especially, inspired me because I think a lot of my problems were because I felt odd or felt weird and she made me see that it was okay and empowering.

Currently, Evanna is preparing to perform at Trafalgar Studios in Disco Pigs between July 12 and August 19.
