Autism Awareness Week: Carrie Grant and her daughter Talia on why more needs to be done
One in 100 people are on the autistic spectrum, but are we doing enough to support them? Today marks the start of World Autism Awareness Week and someone who understands the challenges of autism all too well is singing coach Carrie Grant.
I'm really pleased that we're getting different images of autism out there now, it's not just one thing, it's really multifaceted
Carrie has four children with complex needs. She joined Lorraine with her 16-year-old daughter Talia, who is autistic, to speak about bringing more awareness to the public. Alongside her husband David, Carrie runs a monthly support group for parents of girls on the autistic spectrum to share experiences and strategies.
Dealing with autism mixed with anxiety, it can be really stressful to do everyday things like travelling
Carrie and Talia discuss why greater awareness and public support of autism is needed and shares her coping advice.
