Our Tough Mums 5k course - are you ready?
Check out the obstacles our Tough Mums will be tackling - it's not going to be easy! We can't wait to see Susanna, Ben and co take these on...
Killer Gorilla
Participants scale a mud hill with the help of ropes and each other. This is the first of several muddy obstacles.
As with most obstacles on this course, you should wear suitable clothing for getting seriously dirty!
King Of The Swingers
King of the Swingers requires Mums to leap off a ledge and reach for a rope swing dangling above muddy water. Once airborne, they must stay focused and hold on long enough to reach for a hanging bell. Hit or miss, it still gets the heart racing!
This obstacle consists of a series of 3.5 meter high platforms overhanging a 3.5 meter deep pit of water. People with a fear of heights may have difficulty with this obstacle. People who cannot swim at least 25 meters must NOT attempt this obstacle.
Arctic Enema 2.0
Arctic Enema sends Tough Mums down a short slide, under a chain-link fence, and into freezing cold ice water. Once submerged, Mums must boost themselves and fellow participants through some tyres before emerging victorious.
People who cannot swim at least 25 meters must NOT attempt this obstacle.
Mud Mile
Updated with waist-deep mud, double-high entrance and exit mounds and completely vertical mud masses, the importance of teamwork on this obstacle has never been greater. Lend a hand, take a hand; pay it forward, give it back-- this obstacle is all about going the extra mile.
There’s a lot of mud, so be prepared to get dirty!
Cry Baby
Cry Baby is an enclosed structure filled with a safe tear gas-like substance and littered with hazards along the way, Cry Baby will have your eyes flowing
This feature consists of a crawl through an enclosed container which has a circulating mixture of citric acid and menthol mist. It is designed to give the impression of crawling through tear gas and is likely to cause eyes to water. However, the atmosphere created is a non-toxic mixture of artificial smoke, citric acid and menthol. If you suffer with claustrophobia you may wish to avoid this challenge. People with asthma or other respiratory problems should not attempt this challenge.
Sewer Rat
An excavated series of mounds and trenches. Participants must navigate their way through tubes to the opposite end of the obstacle.
Participants crawl down a plastic culvert 600mm wide into an excavated muddy pit. Those who suffer with claustrophobia, may not wish to do this obstacle.
Hero Carry
Hero Carry is a simple obstacle whereby participants carry a fellow participant over their shoulders ‘fireman’ style . They carry them for 50 meters and then switch and the carried becomes the carrier.
This is pretty straightforward, but obviously people should carry people of similar weight to themselves, to avoid injury.
Everest 2.0
Everest is all about teamwork. The objective is to run up the face of the obstacle, climb (or be pulled) over the curved top section and then climb down the back of the structure in order to exit the obstacle. Many participants will require assistance from their fellow participants to pull them over the top.
People with a fear of heights may wish to avoid this obstacle.
If you do not feel comfortable completing any obstacle, do not attempt it. Simply continue on to the next obstacle via the bypass lane
