WORLD EXCLUSIVE: Jennifer Arcuri refuses to answer Boris Johnson relationship questions

Jennifer Arcuri, Boris Johnson’s ‘tech friend’, has given her first television interview with Good Morning Britain. She is one of the most talked-about people in the UK who is at the centre of a storm over her links to Boris.

The US businesswoman is alleged to have received privileged access due to her 'relationship' with Mr. Johnson when he was Mayor of London.

In a fascinating interview with Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid, the tech entrepreneur said she never received 'favouritism' from Mr Johnson and refused to answer any questions about the intimacy of their relationship.

When asked by Piers if she'd had an affair with the former Mayor of London, Ms Arcuri said: "Because the press have made me this objectified ex-model pole dancer, I'm not going to answer that question."

She went on to say: "I'm not going to be putting myself in a position for you to weaponise my answer. I'm being used as a pawn, this entire thing is a crazy charade."

Ms Arcuri said that Mr Johnson had visited her flat a “handful” of times, adding that she did not have time for the media attention surrounding him when they met in public.

She added: “We tried having drinks out in public or having lunch, it just became too much of a mob show, so I said ‘you just have to come to my office’.”

Ms Arcuri said she had never discussed any sponsorship or grants with Mr Johnson and said that he had nothing to do with the £100,000 grant awarded to her company.

Mr Johnson insisted last week that everything he did when promoting London overseas as mayor was done in “complete conformity with the code and the rules”.

In an interview shortly after Arcuri's comments, Mr Johnson refused to answer questions about her saying, "I've really said everything I want to say about that."

Downing Street sources have previously described the inquiries as politically motivated.

The Department of Digital, Culture, Media & Sport denied any allegations of impropriety in a statement which read: “Funding for this scheme was awarded through open and fair competition. We regularly monitor grant initiatives and treat any allegations of impropriety with the utmost seriousness.”
