Actress Su Pollard has paid tribute to close friend and colleague Jimmy Perry, one of the creators of comedy classics including Dad's Army and Hi-de-Hi!, who has has died aged 93.

Perry, along with co-writer David Croft, was responsible for many of the most successful sitcoms on TV between the 1960s and 1990s.

Pollard, who famously starred in Hi-de-Hi! and used the famous catchphrase, revealed: "I shall miss him for his talent and his genius and his consistency and his professionalism. I shall miss him mostly because he was my mate, a great bloke and someone fabulous to have in your life.

"All the production team are still very close and all of the directors. I saw him a couple of weeks ago and you could tell he was getting tired. He was entitled to."
