UK's first driverless vehicle in public areas
Driverless cars are coming to Britain's roads, the Government has today given the go-ahead for the vehicles to be tested on the public highway. It wants the UK to become a world leader in driverless technology.
The Lutz Pathfinder is designed to work on footpaths and pedestrianised areas - later this year the pods will be tested in an urban laboratory - the first time driverless vehicles will have been used in a public setting.
They will be gradually introduced following a series of tests in a controlled environment.
