Should Nelson's Column be taken down?

It's one of the most recognisable monuments in the world, but some people are calling for Nelson's Column in Trafalgar Square to be torn down.

Critics claim that Nelson was a white supremacist and the defender of the slave trade and sad he shouldn't be remember with a statue.

Earlier we were joined by Afua Hirsch, who wants Nelson's Column to be ripped down and Trisha Goddard who feels that the Column should remain and be used to educate people.

During the interview Piers Morgan made his feelings clear on wanting the statue to remain, and as usual his beliefs were supported by the voting members of the public who took part in the Good Morning Britain Twitter poll this morning.

The poll results revealed that 82 percent of people think Nelson's Column should remain and 18 percent want the historical statue to be teared down, leaving Piers slightly smug as he gloated: "Once again the British people agree with me."
