Meet Jade and her robot R2-Bee2

We had the pleasure of meeting student Jade Gadd and her robot R2-Bee2 on today's Good Morning Britain.

Jade suffers from Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS), a debilitating disorder which can leave the 17-year-old bedbound for weeks at a time. It has led her to miss chunks of schooling in the run-up to her GCSEs.

But Jade, from County Durham, will now be able to carry on her studies in sixth form thanks to her robotic companion.

Watch the video above to find out about Jade's incredible story..

Jade describes R2-Bee2 as a 'cute marshmallow'

What is Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS)?

EDS is the term given to a whole collection of inherited conditions that fit into a larger group known as hereditary disorders of connective tissue. Connective tissues provide support in skin, tendons, ligaments and bones.

There are several different, distinct types of EDS, but they have some features in common. These can include joint hyper-mobility (increased mobility of joints), stretchy skin and tissue fragility.

Jade explains how her friends react to R2-Bee2...
