Headteacher resigns over children being 'held hostage by politicians'
I have caused a debate and I’m very proud of that
A primary school headteacher has penned a heartfelt resignation letter to parents - telling them she's had enough of politicians using children as "guinea pigs".
Jo Garton told us today that she feels young pupils are 'hostages' to politicians and that extra exam stress put on them is unfair and unnecessary.
She announced her plan to step down after eight years as head of Bridlewood Primary School in Swindon and says she made the decision after learning that a controversial assessment system for seven and 11-year-olds introduced for 2016 would run for another year.
She joins us today to tell us more about why she feels so passionate about the subject.
