Should there be a time limit on sexual abuse claims?

In the wake of the recent sexual harassment allegations involving Hollywood giants such as Harvey Weinstein and Kevin Spacey, we spoke to a criminal lawyer who said victims should have just three years to report sexual offences.

Lawyer Nick Freeman said the three year time limit would help convict the guilty people and clear the innocent ones.

However, Dr Charlotte Proudman disagreed and said an abuse claim time limit would discourage women from coming forward and reporting instances of sexual abuse.
