Exclusive: Rod Stewart's another country

I've been very fortunate, it's still as great to make music now.

Rod Stewart

Rod Stewart talks exclusively to GMB about his brand new, self-penned album Another Country, which will be his 29th to date!

With a career spanning more than half a century including seven number one singles and 28 top ten albums in the UK, Rod is one of the biggest selling artists of all time.

On his 29th album, Rod said, "I make the music for my fans now."

Rod revealed that he had a slight song-writing block during a long period of his career that was dedicated to the American songbook. He wasn't writing any songs and said, "I forgot how to do it, my confidence was slipping." Luckily for us, he came back with the album Time and wrote 11 songs, getting his confidence for songwriting back.

Rod's wife Penny Lancaster caused controversy recently when she said that cooking robs men of their masculinity, during a chat with the Loose Women.

Rod agrees and said, “I couldn’t boil an egg to save my life, I really can’t. I’m embarrassed about it but I’ve never been in a position where I’ve had to cook. I tend to agree with [Penny] and I will agree with her because I’ve got no other option.”

When asked whether he used the excuse of losing his masculinity as an excuse not to cook, Rod joked, “My masculinity comes in other departments!”
