'Big Hoot' owl designs that will cover Birmingham revealed
The giant owls that will cover Birmingham later this year are being unveiled today, and they include some recognisable designs.
Birmingham Children's Hospital has teamed up with Wild in Art to stage what they say is the biggest ever mass-participation art event in the city.
'The Big Hoot' will see the 165cm-tall owl sculptures perching across Birmingham for ten weeks this summer - and the designs have been revealed today. Local artists and community groups have also now decorated many of the owls.
The large owls will also be joined by smaller 'owlet' sculptures, and all will be sponsored by local businesses.
The extensive exhibition is expected to attract thousands of local, regional and national visitors to Birmingham.
The team behind it from Wild in Art, famously hosted a similar event in Bristol, with a number of Gromit statues put up in the city.
