Chelsea departure a repeat of Jose Mourinho pattern
Jose Mourinho has made a habit of falling out with players, staff, opposing managers and even owners, something that was his final downfall at Chelsea.
When Mourinho departed under cloud in 2007 after a draw with Rosenborg in the Champions League it didn't look likely that he would ever return to Stamford Bridge.
He'd fallen out with Roman Abramovich as the Russian didn't want to fund his manager's expensive tastes in the January transfer window.
A move to Inter Milan resulted in Italian titles and even a Champions League victory. This sustained period of success meant he was headhunted by Real Madrid where he delved into the inner turmoil of the club and their rivalry with Barcelona.
Within the club Mourinho was repeatedly at loggerheads with president Florentino Perez and inside the dressing room he fell out with Real Madrid goalkeeping legend Iker Casillas, who he repeatedly left out of the team, something that split the dressing room.
When coming up against Barcelona he repeatedly clash with the opposition coaching staff, including a pitchside altercation that ended with Mourinho poking the opposing assistant manager Tito Vilanova. Mourinho was unpopular at the Nou Camp after goading home fans following Inter Milan's victory their in a Champions League clash, something he would later play on.
Mourinho even had run ins with his star man Cristiano Ronaldo, who didn't always find his best form under the regimented manager.
After the 2012-13 season at the campaign at the Santiago Bernabeu, one Mourinho calls the worst of his career, the Portuguese left by mutual consent with the promise of a Stamford Bridge return in the offing.
Things started well back in London as Mourinho started rebuilding his empire, claiming he was the 'happy one' as he sat back in the manager's chair at Stamford Bridge.
The 2014-15 resulted with a League Cup final win and taking the Premier League trophy back from Manchester City.
However, despite the success, Chelsea and Mourinho imploded within four months on the new season. Firstly, Mourinho lost patience with his medical staff, demoting Eva Carneiro and Jon Fearn for treating Eden Hazard on the pitch during a match.
This move overshadowed the club's poor early form, until Carneiro eventually left the club. The physio is expected to take both Chelsea and Mourinho to court for constructive dismissal.
Individual players have also suffered the wrath of Mourinho as he talked of their "betrayal" of him after their defeat at Leicester.
Mourinho claimed he wanted to stay and turn things around, but the writing was on the wall for for him, as Abramovich took the decision to cuts ties once again, and this time there's no coming back.
