Clare Balding's ready to ramble
In Clare Balding's family, walking took too long - Clare galloped through the countryside and she galloped through life. As her dad always said, "Why would you walk without a dog or a pitchfork?"
From carrying the Olympic torch and interviewing Bert Le Clos to losing two stone and her first dog, walking has become the constant in her adult life.
She has covered thousands of miles with hundreds of different people for Radio 4's Ramblings and recently decided to try and conquer the Wayfarer's Walk, a seventy-one mile route with her brother Andrew.
