Celebrate the beautiful autumn season with this stunning sparkly table decoration from crafting queen Jodie May from A Handmade Cottage.
You will need
A container (wire basket or any large bowl will work)StrawSelection of succulentsSelection of pastel chalk paint (sample pots are ideal)Gilding pasteGold / copper leaf flakesDried or fake hydrangeasFoliage / pine cones to decorate
Method
Begin by giving your succulents two coats of chalk paint, leave to dry
Once dry apply one coat of gilding paste and leave for 15 (or follow the instructions on the bottle)
Pick up some gold leaf flakes on another brush and begin brushing them onto the succulent. Work your way around. Try alternating between the cold and copper as you go. Once dry you can add an optional coat of varnish to protect from oxidation.
Line your container / basket with the straw, arrange your succulents and finish by placing your hydrangeas in between. Finish off with eucalyptus or green foliage and pine cones.
TIP: Use scented pines cones and place your display near the front door for a lovely autumnal welcome
