Phillip Schofield, 57, has said he feels a sense of 'relief' following the overwhelming support he received from his friends and family, after making the decision to address some very personal news in a statement on Instagram.
Speaking for the first time since the news, Phillip joined Holly on the sofa to discuss his journey towards coming out as gay, admitting it was something he had been "living with, in conflict, for a long time".
Now, Phillip Schofield has thanked his wife, daughters and the ITV family for their support.
He told Holly: "Everyone I've spoken to, have all been so supportive and so loving and caring."
In his statement, Phillip said he was able to come to the decision with the support of his wife Steph and two daughters Molly and Ruby.
"With the strength and support of my wife and my daughters, I have been coming to terms with the fact that I am gay," he wrote.
He added: "This is something that has caused many heart-breaking conversations at home. I have been married to Steph for nearly 27 years, and we have two beautiful grown-up daughters, Molly and Ruby. "
Phillip went on to thank his wife adding: "Steph has been incredible - I love her so very much. She is the kindest soul I have ever met. My girls have been astonishing in their love, hugs and encouraging words of comfort."
Since the news broke, many famous faces have taken to Twitter to share their support including members of the ITV family, such as Dr Ranj and Dermot O'Leary.
