'A stranger saved my unborn baby from Las Vegas mass shooting'
I don't know how everything else would have played out if it wasn't for her keeping me on my feet ... she helped me get out of there
Five months on from the deadliest shooting Las Vegas has ever seen, we meet the heroic survivor who saved the life of a stranger and her unborn baby.
On October 1 2017, a lone gunman opened fire on crowds of people who had gathered to enjoy a country music festival on the Las Vegas strip. From a 32nd floor hotel suite, bullets rained down indiscriminately on innocent victims below, killing 58 people and injuring hundreds more.
Retired bus driver Sue Ann Cornwell and mum-to-be Miriam Finch found themselves amidst the panic and horror.
As people fled for their lives and attempted to take cover, Sue Ann turned to the heavily pregnant stranger beside her and vowed, ''Your baby is not dying on my watch''. Sue, who attended the concert with her sister, leapt into action. She helped Miriam onto the ground before lying on top of her to shield her from the spray of gunfire.
''I've always been a protector of my younger brothers and sisters,'' Sue Ann said. ''It's just something in my heart.''
Five months on, the two women have been reunited and Miriam's newborn baby boy, Xander, has been introduced to the hero stranger who risked her own life to save him that night.
