Meningitis B and the new vaccine
It's one of the biggest killers in children under five - bacterial meningitis. After 20 years of research a vaccine is now available but government bodies have refused to provide it on the NHS due to cost (even though it could have saved hundreds of lives last year).
Today Dr Ranj Singh introduces us to eight-year-old Tilly Lockey, who needed both hands amputating and lost all of her toes as a result of meningitis. Tilly's mum Sarah insists access to the vaccine could stop other little children losing their limbs to this disease.
We discuss this issue and remind viewers of the signs and symptoms to help spot the disease before it's too late.
