Woman warns against surgeries abroad after suffering life-threatening complications

41 year-old Michelle Heath, was delighted with the £4,000 surgery she found abroad to remove excess skin following her impressive 10 stone weight loss. But her treatment in Turkey became a nightmare, returning to Belfast with open wounds, serious infections, and says surgeons performed liposuction, and gave her a Brazilian bum lift without permission. Michelle needed further surgeries and skin grafts to correct the botched procedures.

But the consequences could have been worse, the Foreign & Commonwealth Office say they are aware of 22 British nationals who have died in Turkey since January 2019 following medical tourism visits. Today Michelle tells her story alongside the UK’s leading cosmetic surgeon, Dr Riccardo Frati, with a warning for anyone considering surgery abroad.
