Meet Baby Sussex, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have introduced the new royal baby to the world, with Meghan describing the first few days with their bundle of joy as “magic”.

The royal couple appeared in St James’ Hall at Windsor Castle to give us a much-anticipated first glimpse of Baby Sussex, who arrived on Monday, weighing 7lbs 3oz.

The eagerly awaited photo call is the first time the world has met Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s firstborn, after the couple chose to spend a few precious days with their baby as a family.

There’s been much speculation about the royal baby’s name, and a few hours after the baby's introduction, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex revealed that they'd named their son Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.

“It’s been a special couple of days” revealed Meghan, also adding “it’s magic, it’s pretty amazing”.

“I have the two best guys in the world so I’m really happy”.

Meghan added, "He has the sweetest temperament, he's really calm."

As they both laughed, Harry said, "I don't know who he gets that from." Meghan added: "He's just been the dream so it's been a special couple of days."

The newest royal baby made his debut behind closed doors, with a small press pool of only one reporter, one photographer, three cameramen, as well as the couple's own private photographer and a household press officer photographer.

The couple plan to raise their baby boy at their home, Frogmore Cottage, on the grounds of Windsor Castle. Archie will be seventh in line to the throne, falling behind the Duke of Sussex himself, and as a first-born boy will one day succeed Harry in his role.

Later that day the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were joined by Meghan's mother, Doria Ragland, as they showed their new son Archie to Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh at Windsor Castle.
