The Scottish seaside cafe set to introduce seagull insurance
Regulars at the Cheesy Toast Shack in St Andrews will get their stolen sarnies replaced if they pay an optional £1 charge.
Kate Carter-Larg, who co-owns the seaside cafe with husband Sam Larg, estimates that seagulls are snatching around 30 toasties from the hands of their customers every day.
The business currently hands out free replacements to dozens of their customers each day but this is costing them hundreds of pounds a day and they are in need of a solution.
Kate says the seagulls near their business are ‘super aggressive’.
From playing birds of prey noises, to buying a bird of prey kite on Amazon, Kate says she has exhausted almost every option.
It was Kate's husband Sam who came up with the idea of an optional 'gull insurance' - in a bid to still enable the family to replace customers' food, but also assist the business in their compassionate endeavours.
