The Iceland advert 'too political' for TV

Iceland’s festive TV campaign has been pulled after its depiction of rainforest destruction was deemed 'too political' to broadcast by regulator, Clearcast. Narrated by Emma Thompson, it shows a young girl speaking to a baby orangutang in her bedroom who tells her humans are destroying their homes.

It’s been called a clever marketing stunt, but its ban has prompted outrage from the public, celebrities and environmentalists with over half a million people signing a petition to allow it be shown on TV.

Today we’re joined by environmentalist Giles Clark, broadcaster Julia Bradbury who had to explain the advert to her children and dad-of-three Mark Topps who started the petition.
