The 88-year-old who has changed the face of age discrimination
One hard-working grandmother is Britain’s oldest person to win an age discrimination case. Eileen Jolly, now 88, was marched out of work and sacked from her NHS job in January 2017, when she was 86. Bosses told the former secretary that she had made serious errors and could not be retrained.
After working at the Royal Berkshire Hospital for 25 years Eileen says she was left “degraded” and “humiliated”, turning to antidepressants and hiding the truth from her family. She joins us, alongside her lawyers, to share her story.
