Stop the menopause by 20 years! Miracle treatment tricking the biological clock
Last week, we took your calls in a menopause special - looking at the physical and psychological changes which occur. Now it’s believed women could delay the process for up to 20 years thanks to a medical breakthrough.
The procedure - which is the first of its kind in the world - could trick women’s biological clock by removing and later freezing one piece of their ovary until they reach the point of menopause. It would then be thawed and transplanted back into their bodies kick starting their natural hormones.
Costing between £3,000 and £7,000, a number of British women have already undergone the ovary transplant surgery including Dixie-Louise Dexter who says it’s been ‘life-changing’.
She joins us on holiday from Spain while our fertility expert Dr Larisa and consultant in obstetrics and gynaecology Mr Hemant Vakharia, who was involved in the surgeries, are in the studio.
