Should women be given menstrual leave?

They affect half the population, yet periods are still something of a taboo subject, especially in the workplace. Now a Bristol company is set to create a period policy, giving women time off work during their monthly cycle in what is thought to be a UK first.

Bex Baxter, director of the business in question, says it will increase the happiness and productivity of her staff, insisting that a woman should listen to and be guided by her body's natural rhythms.

Journalist Martin Daubney, meanwhile, brands it "a preposterous notion" that is unnecessary, open to abuse and sexist.
