Should darts competition walk-on girls be banned?
Walk-on girls or players' escorts have been a staple of televised darts competitions for 25 years. But over the weekend, the Professional Darts Corporation have announced that walk-on girls are to become a thing of the past, as they plan to ban the ‘outdated’ practice with immediate effect.
While welcomed by some, the ban has led to outrage from many darts fans, with over 17,000 people signing an online petition to bring the girls back. So is it about time this ‘archaic’ tradition was banned? Or is it politIcal correctness gone mad?
We speak to professional walk-on girls Charlotte Wood and Daniella Allfree, who tell us how this ‘PC nonsense’ has resulted in them losing their jobs, and journalist Sally Howard who says women should not be paraded around like brainless mascots.
