Quick deals from Martin Lewis
Soap & Glory is back today, £10 West End tickets and give pressies to charity instead of tat to friends. These are our Money Saving Expert Martin Lewis’ Quick Deals.
Remember, deals can change quickly, even while I’m on the programme. So always double-check the terms and conditions before spending. Plus, while I hope these deals will save you cash, don’t spend if you can’t afford it, don’t need it, or won’t use it.
Soap & Glory ‘It’s The Whole She-bang’ gift-set £30.
This is massively popular every year, and if you go online or in store from today Boots is reducing the Soap & Glory gift-set from £60 to £30 as part of its weekly ‘star gift’. The nine-piece set comes in a pink ‘limited edition’ make-up bag and includes a body buffer, shower gel, hand cream, mascara and lip gloss. I’ve valued the items individually and it’d be around £68, so for £30 this is a decent deal. Delivery is £3.50 or you can collect in store for free. Last year this sold out in five days, and I suspect the same will happen again, so if you want one you’ll need to act quick.
£10 - £40 tickets to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The Lion King and more West End shows.
Go online to Get Into London Theatreand if you’re lucky you’ll be able to get £10-£40 tickets (usually up to £72.50) for West End shows from 1 January – 12 February 2016. There were around 140,000 tickets available when they first went on sale on Tuesday 8 December and they’re available across various dates and performances, such as Wicked, Matilda, The Nutcracker and The Lion King. You can only get eight tickets per booking and once they’re gone they’re gone. So if you want them go now.
Ban giving tat – give to charity instead this Christmas
This is my biggest Christmas gripe – giving unnecessary presents each year that get buried away in the cupboard, or worse, thrown away. Instead, give a meaningful gift to charity in someone’s name. It’s less wasteful than buying tat and is far closer to the real Christmas spirit.
£5 to Good Gifts lets you feed 50 hungry children, or for £8 you can give a worm-composting kit to African farmers. For £12 to Unicef you can provide 100 polio vaccines for children or for £27.50 you can buy midwifery equipment to deliver a baby. Or £12.50 buys a goat and £5 buys chickens from Oxfam. Other charities that give gifts include the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, Centrepoint, Age International and Save the Children. There are lots of meaningful gifts to choose from and you’ll get a customised gift-card which you can give to the recipient to tell them you’ve made this donation on his or her behalf.
And if you’re done with feeling charitable why not treat yourself to a freebie? Pitcher & Piano is giving away a free cocktail every day at its bars till Saturday. Just register online and you’ll be emailed a unique code each day (if you’ve already registered you’ll automatically get an email) which you can print or show in exchange for a free cocktail. Or if you prefer you can get a soft drink. Please be Drinkaware.
