Morning-after drink driving

As the festive season begins, so the inevitable peak in drink driving offences occurs; and recent police reports reveal a significant increase in the number of morning-after drink-drivers being caught over the legal limit the day after a night of drinking.

One woman who knows all too well the terrible consequences of morning-after drink driving is Lucia Delkhoshnavaz, whose beloved father Antonio Ricci was hit and killed by a drunk driver at 6:40am in November 2010. The driver, Charlotte Roberts, was found to be over twice the legal limit for driving when she got behind the wheel. She admitted to drinking seven bottles of lager the night before.

Lucia joins us now to tell us why she wants to raise awareness of the danger of this kind of drink driving, in the hope she might prevent others suffering such a loss.
