Michelle Keegan gives the inside scoop on gripping new drama Fool Me Once
Michelle Keegan stars in gripping new drama Fool Me Once, alongside Dame Joanna Lumley and Richard Armitage, based on the bestselling novel by Harlan Coben.
Michelle plays Maya Stern - a widow who’s grieving for her murdered husband while also caring for their young daughter. But when her husband mysteriously appears on the baby monitor - Maya begins to question her sanity as well as the real story behind her husband’s murder.
She's known for her roles in Our Girl, Coronation Street and Brassic but Michelle says she has always wanted try her hand at a thriller. She said: 'I have had my eye on wanting to do a thriller for a while. I love thrillers. I love reading thrillers. I love watching thrillers. So, for me that was definitely a pull. And I was a massive fan of Harlan Coben’s work anyway.'
Acting alongside Michelle in the Netflix hit is the iconic Dame Joanna Lumley who plays Maya's mother-in-law. Michelle describes filming scenes with her as 'so much fun' and said: 'I mean it’s not every day that you tell Joanna Lumley to f-off! That was quite nerve racking. She made me feel very comfortable from the off. She’s such a legend.'
Speaking about their time in between filming, she added: 'Honestly, any conversation you have with her she’s got a story to tell. It’s just fascinating what she comes out with. She’s really lived a full life.'
Described as a series that will see the characters 'embark on a hunt for the truth that will reveal shocking secrets and change their lives forever' Michelle teases what the viewers will get from the series.
She said: 'I hope they enjoy all the twists and turns. Nothing is how it seems in this story. People will come to their own conclusions, but your conclusion will probably be wrong. That’s what I loved about the show and about the book.'
