Gender reassignment: 'I feel like I'm living a lie'
From a man to a woman... to a man again. Matthew Attonley appeared on This Morning earlier this year to discuss his decision to undergo gender reassignment surgery in 2012. However, six months on, he says he can't cope with the daily struggles of living as a transgender woman and now chooses to live his life as a man again.
After battling with the side effects of his ongoing medication, Matthew says, "I looked in the mirror and realised I didn't look like anything - not a man and not a woman. I decided I needed to be physically and mentally happy."
Although his initial operation was paid for by the NHS, Matthew says he will be footing the bill for any future operations. For now, he is adapting to life as a man again - one step at a time.
