These are our Money Saving Expert Martin Lewis’ Quick Deals.
Remember, deals can change quickly, even while I’m on the programme. So always double-check the terms and conditions before spending. Plus, while I hope these deals will save you cash, don’t spend if you can’t afford it, don’t need it, or won’t use it.
Warning: Use savings to buy solar panels now – delay could cost £400/year
From January returns are likely to be slashed. If you’ve a suitable house, there’s still time to grab this lucrative option. Solar panels not only reduce your electricity bill, you also get paid for generating electricity, even if you use it. But the Government’s consulting on slashing the payout from the end of January. If so, this means it’ll no longer be worth it for most people. Currently in total you can get a £585/year return which means they’ll pay for themselves in 11 years. If the Government’s proposals happen, it’ll be just £205/year so the payback time will be over 30 years. So if you’ve been thinking of this check it out NOW. Providing you get the installation done before the rate changes, you still get the high rate guaranteed for 20 years and it can be very lucrative. Black Friday
It’s a US phenomenon, the first Friday after Thanksgiving which is traditionally when the Christmas deals are launched. It’s now come over here and merged with Cyber Monday (the busiest online shopping day) to become a Black Friday weekend. In many ways this isn’t new, we’ve always had deals throughout November and December, just now more of them are concertinaed into this one weekend.
These deals come in two forms: either individual goods heavily discounted, or blanket codes for all items. But don’t get sucked into the hype and don’t buy on impulse. Though if you have things on your list that you need, it’s worth checking out if you can buy them cheaper right now.
Cross store deals
Here are just a few of those, yet more and more retailers will announce that they are doing this. For a continually updated list see Martin’s full Black Friday deals page.
