Long Lost Family appeal for missing mum
I would urge her to be brave and come forward ... I don't have to be involved in her life, if it's going to upset her life, I really don't - but if she could just tell me her circumstances. And to know that I'm happy. She did the right thing, just the wrong way, as far as I'm concerned.
Every Wednesday millions of people get their tissues ready to watch Long Lost Family, witnessing tear-jerking stories of families being reunited. Tonight's show takes on one of their most extraordinary searches to date.
Alley Lofthouse is a foundling - she was abandoned at birth. Despite extensive research it proved such a difficult task to find Alley's birth mother that the team decided to launch an appeal at the end of the show. They also consulted with Dr Audrey Mullender who has conducted research around abandonment.
Alley Lofthouse and Dr Audrey Mullender join us today, meeting for the first time to discuss Alley's history.
