It’s freezing outside so our ‘Costa inspired’ hot milkshakes are just what you need to see through the cold snap. Juliet Sear shows you how to make the pudding based drink that’s all the rage this winter.
Chocolate brownie
Ingredients
150ml whole milk35g luxury hot chocolate drinking powder 40g brownie, plus extra for toppingChocolate sauce Whipped cream
Method
1. Heat the milk in a saucepan until scalding but not boiled, whisking to thicken. (You can steam the milk in a machine)
2. Add the powder, brownie and the hot milk into a blender and blitz for around a minute, until completely smooth and aerated.
3. Drizzle the inside of the glass with chocolate sauce and pour in the drink mix. Top with whipped cream, some chunks of brownie and extra sauce if desired.
Butterscotch biscuit
Ingredients
150ml whole milk30g (half a packet) butterscotch pudding mix (e.g. Angel Delight)25g Butterscotch biscuit spread (e.g. Biscoff), plus extra warmed for drizzling in the glass2 regular Butterscotch biscuits (e.g. Biscoff), plus extra for serving Whipped cream
Method
1. Heat the milk in a saucepan until scalding but not boiled, whisking to thicken. (You can steam the milk in a machine) .
2. Add the biscuit spread, biscuits, butterscotch powder to the blender and pour in the hot milk. Blitz for around a minute, until completely smooth and aerated.
3. Drizzle the inside of the glass with warmed biscuit spread (optional) and pour in the drink mix. Top with cream, and scatter over crushed or whole biscuits.
Malted milk caramel
Ingredients
150ml whole milk30g malted milk drink powder (e.g. Horlicks)30g (half a packet) vanilla pudding mix (e.g. Angel Delight) Caramel sauceWhipped creamCrushed malted milk chocolate (e.g. Maltesers)
Method
1. Heat the milk in a saucepan until scalding but not boiled, whisking to thicken. (You can steam the milk in a machine)
2. Add the Horlicks powder, vanilla powder and the hot milk to a blender and blitz for around a minute, until completely smooth and aerated.
3. Drizzle caramel sauce inside the glass, and pour in the drink mix. Top with cream, crushed malted milk chocolates and more caramel sauce as desired.
