It's the Winter Solstice - the shortest day of the year!
It’s the longest, darkest day of the year in the UK today, but as we mark the Winter Solstice, those on the other side of the world are celebrating hours and hours of sunshine.
Earth Diviner Dean Liprini joins us from one of South Africa’s sacred sites to explain how folk in the southern hemisphere are marking today, while mystic witch Laura Daligan is live in Glastonbury honouring the solstice with a very special sound healing song session.
Along with being the shortest day of the year, it is also part of an important marker which, along with the summer solstice, autumn and spring equinox, mark the transition between the seasons.
The solstice is observed as a particular point in time, when the sun is directly over the Tropic of Capricorn.
