Is obesity in children child abuse?

Recent figures suggest that a third of 13 years olds are obese or overweight which has prompted the question are these children victims of child abuse?

It was reported last week that the parents of an obese child were arrested on suspicion of cruelty and neglect after their 5ft 1in 11-year-old son reached 15 stone.

A similar case in August 2012 saw a five-year-old girl taken into care after her weight reached 10st 5lb.

Are these children victims of child abuse?

Tam Fry from the National Obesity Forum thinks they are, whilst body image campaigner Natasha Devon would never class child obesity as abuse. They're here to put across their arguments.
