I'm a black woman slowly turning white
He said 'you're beautiful, and if they don't like it, that's up to them!'
They say beauty is skin deep, but when African-American mother-of-four Iomikoe Johnson was diagnosed with vitiligo (a condition in which areas of skin lose their normal pigment and become white) she feared she would be bullied for her appearance.
Spending up to an hour every day covering her skin with makeup, Iomikoe hid her true complexion for more than eight years. But after some honest words from her fiancé she has now ditched the make-up bag and taken to modelling.
Joining us live from New Orleans, Iomikoe tells us her story and why she has decided to embrace the vitiligo which will one day turn her skin completely white.
