How to make your own advent calendar
The countdown continues, and what better way to start getting festive than with some Christmas craft! So, rather than spending an arm and a leg on an advent calendar, why not get creative?
From used paint pots to spare socks, our Home Genie Georgina Burnett is here to show you how to make your very own advent calendar.
Toilet roll Christmas tree calendar
Paint or use green paper to decorate 15 of the loo rolls, decorate 10 of them with glitter
Use a loo roll to draw around to make discs. Then punch a hole, write numbers and glue a pompom on and thread cotton through the hole.
Glue the cotton to the top of each loo roll so the disc hangs down just in front of the opening
Glue 9 of the glitter rolls together in a cube shape, then glue the green rolls in rows of 5, 4, 3 and 2 and then glue on top of each other
Glue one sparkly roll on top and add a star!
Muffin tin calendar
Cut out bauble shapes to fit on top of the dimples - you could use old Christmas cards for this.
Add the numbers and decorate!
Stick just above the dimple. If it’s a non stick tray use double-sided tape.
If you want to hang it you may need to use sticky tack or tape to stick the chocolates in place inside the dimples
Hanging lucky stars calendar
Add snow or glitter to a branch that you will use as your hanging base
Cut paper into half-inch strips
Write a message/ favour to have on each of the 24 days
Fold into stars
Hang with silver thread
