How to get started with the hottest exercise trend of 2023 - pilates!

With pilates expected to be the most popular workout of 2023, why not start the new year by trying it for yourself? Jennifer Aniston, Adele and David Beckham have all credited it as the secret to their super-fit bodies - and today, we’ll be showing you just how easy it is to lengthen, strengthen, build flexibility and tone. Trainer to the stars, Bryony Deery is joining us to explain why she believes it’s the workout of the moment, before showing us a mini-routine that you can join in with at home.

1. Four point kneeling work ( box position with knees hovering)

2. Full body exercise with a focus on the legs and upper body connection. Moving the legs away from your centre adds extra resistance. Be sure to keep a soft bend in the arms and draw your belly button up to the spine.

3. Plank work: Again a full body exercise that focuses on length through the spine and an upper body connection. Amazing for the core.

4. Shoulder bridge series: Be sure to check your hips are nice and square. This is a great lower body exercise to really strengthen the glutes.

5. Lower lifts: Targeting the lowest part of the abdominals which can often be neglected. Inhale as you lower the legs and exhale to lift.
