HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO USE A TUMBLE DRYER?:The average home spends around £200 a year using their tumble drier. Switching to Indoor drying alternatives is a more cost effective and eco friendly option.SPIN CYCLES ON THE WASHING MACHINE:

  • Always select a specific spin cycle every time you put on a wash.

  • Towels, sheets, sweatshirts and all the heavy washing should be put on the highest spin cycle.

  • Delicate clothes should only be spun on a low RPM (revolutions per minute).

  • If the washing still feels quite wet when the load is complete, always add an extra spin. On a relatively new machine, this should have the clothes coming out feeling almost dry.

ALICE’S TUMBLE DRYING TOP TIPS:Each tumble dryer load costs approximately £1.50 so avoiding using it for just one load a week will save you £78 a year. Tumble drying is not great for the environment either - An average tumble dry cycle produces just under 2 kg of CO2 each time.

Before using your tumble dryer, always check the below:

  • Clean out the filter and the condenser.

  • Unravel and unknot all bundled washing.

  • Sort the washing. Mixed loads take longer because different fabrics weigh more.

  • Hang out your washing first to part-dry.
