Harry Dunn's parents "Anne should come back to the UK"
In August 2019, 19-year-old Harry Dunn was tragically killed when a car being driven on the wrong side of the road by American citizen, Anne Sacoolas collided with his motorbike. 19 days later Anne left the UK citing diplomatic immunity, triggering a transatlantic row that would continue for three years. Then on 20th October, Anne pleaded guilty to death by careless driving via video link at the Old Bailey, with sentencing scheduled for late November.
Harry’s parents Tim and Charlotte join us today to explain why Anne should attend the sentencing in person and why they are so relieved they finally have justice for Harry.
Asked whether they think Anne will attend the sentencing in person, Tim said: "I'm undecided, I hope for her and for us that she does come. I hope for her and her children she can come and draw a line under this."
Speaking about their life since Harry was killed, Charlotte added: "Nothing is going to be normal as it was to us before Harry was killed. We just hope we can get back to some sort of happy.
She added: "Right from day one, we had no intention of separating her from her children and we still stand by that, but it's still about doing the right thing. In any country you shouldn't be able to take someone's life and just walk away."
