Gavin and Stacey star Alison Steadman says she's backing another TV special
She stepped into Christmas and record viewing figures with the Gavin and Stacey festive special, but could the show’s success lead to a series four?
Alison Steadman, who plays Pam Shipman in the hit show, joins us to reveal if there’s any truth to the rumours, plus why she’s once again supporting a very important cause - Marie Curie’s Great Daffodil Appeal.
After watching a clip of the Gavin and Stacey Christmas Special, Eamonn asked Alison if it felt good to be back. Alison revealed, "It was amazing. It was the best thing because we never thought it would happen. I was convinced. It had been 10 years, I'd been asked over and over again and I said 'no, I know it's definitely not going to happen, let's just let it lie'.
"And then suddenly I got a text from Ruth, Ruth Jones, and she said, 'if this happened, would you be willing to take part?'" And I nearly dropped my phone.
Alison explained that it was about three months in between getting the text from Ruth, and being back on set, "We had to be in complete silence, couldn't say anything to anyone."
Asked by Eamonn whether she was expecting another call up Alison said, "Honestly, I've no idea. I would doubt it. Only because James in in America, he's such a big star now. Ruth is so busy, she's writing novels and plays."
Eamonn suggested the idea of an annual Christmas special would be sustainable, and Alison agree, "A special would be amazing."
