'Doctors sewed my foot on backwards to save my life'
Imagine being told that the only way you could walk again, is to have your leg amputated… and then have your foot sewn on backwards. That’s exactly what happened to 23-year-old Ibrahim Abdulrauf. At just 14-years-old, Ibrahim started to experience leg pain which he first blamed on a football injury, but doctors later discovered he had rapidly spreading bone cancer.
The unusual procedure - known as a rotationplasty - not only allowed Ibrahim to still walk, it also saved his life. After first describing his new leg as ‘frankenstein’, Ibrahim now says he’s happier and more confident than ever. He joins us in the studio to tell us about starting his life again.
