Cutest breed of dog in the WORLD revealed!

A new study has crowned Dalmatians the cutest dogs in the world, followed by Irish Water Spaniels, Wire Fox Terriers, Labradors and Basset Hounds.

The research by pet insurance comparison site Money Beach also found that the cutest pet in the world is actually a cat, followed by ferrets and rabbits!

The study used an ancient algebraic equation called the 'golden ratio', commonly used in the fields of architecture and design, which determines how aesthetically pleasing something is to the human eye.

Focussing on 100 of the most popular dog breeds, the ratio between key points, such as ears, eyes, nostrils and tongue were calculated and then a percentage was given of how close the measurements were to the golden ratio. The higher the percentage, the more ‘perfect’ the pup's face is.

The Dalmatian stood above all other breeds, with 67% of its face adhering to the golden ratio. Perhaps best known as the stars of the Disney film 101 Dalmatians, the black-spotted breed originated in Croatia and has since become popular around the world. The Irish Water Spaniel placed as the second cutest dog breed in the world. The largest in the spaniel breed, Irish Water Spaniels have a notably curly, mid-brown coat.

Wire Fox Terriers, with their long faces and folded ears, complete the top three, while loveable family favourite Labradors ranked in fourth place. Basset Hounds came in fifth, perhaps a surprising entry as they famously have droopy eyes and ears - but were still 64% ‘perfect’, according to the golden ratio.

So where did your pawsome pooch end up on the list, and do you agree with its placement?
