Clare Balding on her fond and funny memories of the Queen
Presenter Clare Balding, whose grandfather, father and brother trained the Queen’s horses, shares her fond memories of the Queen. The first pony Clare ever rode as a small child was a Shetland called Valkyrie - a present from the Queen.
It was the same pony the Duke of York and the Earl of Wessex learnt to ride on. Clare has revealed how the Queen was a keen horse breeder and enjoyed horses that had a ‘naughty’ side. Clare has also spoken about the funny time she shot a sausage across the table at the Queen during a breakfast.
