Bopper the Whopper finds a new home!
Since September, we've managed to find many deserving dogs loving homes. But we've never met a pooch quite like 11-year old Bopper the Collie.
Bopper arrived at Gables Farm Dogs and Cats home in Plymouth last year after his owner fell ill. Weighing a shocking eight stone, Bopper was labelled Britain’s Fattest Dog, and being too big to stay in the shelter, he had to live with one of the shelter's employee instead.
But after losing an impressive six pounds in two months, Bopper was ready to find his forever home and met Ruth and Eamonn on This Morning alongside Gable's Farm manager Claire Sparkes.
Claire told Eamonn and Ruth that Bopper was the friendliest dog in the shelter and was well suited to live with children and families. “He’s the best one to deal with new people. He’s relaxed, easy-going and placid. We took Bopper to the Radio 1 studio at the end of last year, when he was featured on the station. He was great. There were 40 people there and he was not fazed at all.”
And Bopper's TV appearance obviously paid off as this handsome fellow has now found his forever home! Bopper's new Plymouth-based owners Mike and Jan Plymouth have previously re-homed five other dogs, including Gable's Farm Labradors Honey and Sadie.
Mike told the BBC, "He is a very friendly dog - he is very outgoing and gets on so well with the girls. We're delighted with him."
A statement from Gables Farm explained, "He has settled in very well and is enjoying plenty of short walks on the moors to help him shed the last of his weight and everyone is thrilled for him."
