Behind the scenes of Bryony’s Halloween makeup masterclass
As a professional makeup artist, Bryony Blake has always been a huge fan of Halloween, so we sent her to Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando Resort in Florida to get all the backstage secrets.
We also tasked Bryony to take some behind-the-scenes snaps for us so we could see what fun she got up to when she was away! Here’s what she had to say…
‘I loved looking around the Halloween set. There were all sorts of tricks and treats in there.’ said Bryony. ‘Including this guy, who’d had a really bad day by the looks of things!'
‘I loved my wig so much, I wanted to keep it! But unfortunately, the team needed it back.’ says Bryony. ‘It could have been worse though - I could have had to wear the mask on the mannequin behind me’.
Bryony was part of the Graveyard: Deadly Unrest scare zone, and her costume was amazing! ‘They made this character specially for me. The entertainment team spent time teaching me how to scare, and I had so much fun getting out onto the street and terrifying some tourists!’
‘I loved it so much! Even Vicki, my producer, had a really difficult time persuading me to come back and stop scaring...’
‘This is me posing with my Boo Hole!’ says Bryony. ‘An affectionate name for the little hiding area where I could wait for people to walk past, before jumping out to scare them. I would have moved in here if I could!’
‘I couldn’t go all that way without taking a picture in front of the iconic globe. I grabbed this selfie with Matt from the Universal team, who was a superstar and looked after us all throughout the shoot’.
There were smiles all round at the end of filming! ‘We’re all smiling here, but after two long days of filming, we were so tired!’ says Bryony. ‘This was actually us hiding from all the terrifying scare actors who were performing on the street.. And you wouldn’t know it, but Vicki is absolutely terrified here’.
‘I had the most amazing time learning the art of Halloween makeup from the masters, and definitely won’t be short of a few ideas next time I’m out trick or treating!’
