Barry George: '10 years after I was cleared of Jill Dando's murder, my name is still mud'

37-year-old Jill Dando was the Crimewatch presenter, journalist and friend of our very own Eamonn, brutally gunned down outside her West London home in April 1999. A year after her murder, local suspect Barry George was arrested and sentenced to life in prison. But a retrial in June 2008 revealed there had been no significant evidence George was guilty, and he was acquitted in August that year. 19 years after Jill’s death, the case remains open, and Barry George’s name remains synonymous with it.
