The Battles that came out fighting!

Once our Acts have made it through that nerve-wracking first Blind Audition, it’s GO time in the Battles! Things get real as talented singers have to work to harmonise with an opponent, but also show our Coaches that they’re the worthy winner of the fight.

The Battles see our Acts pushed way out of their comfort zones, and our Coaches face some of their most brutal decisions! We’re taking a look back at the Acts that levelled up and came out fighting.

Rhianna Abrey VS Donel Mangena (2018)

Rhianna and Abrey stepped UP when they were paired together in the 2018 Battles. Not only were the vocals on point, the dance moves were popping, and they won the entire audience over with their twist on The Script’s ‘Rain’.

Lucy Calcines VS Alia Lara (2020)

The party arrived at the 2020 Battles when Lucy Calcines and Alia Lara lit up the stage with their performance of Little Mix’s ‘Bounce Back’. Fab harmonies, incredible high notes, serious stage presence and a whole load of sass. Now that’s a Battle!

Saskia Eng VS Ruti Olajugbagbe (2018)

Another throwback to 2018, and sometimes a ticket to the Battles is what it takes for an Act to really believe in themselves. Ruti and Saskia absolutely transformed between their Blind Auditions and this unbelievable version of Florence + The Machine’s ‘Dog Days Are Over’, blowing the Coaches away in the process!

Jason Nicholson-Porter VS Tesni Jones (2018)

And then there are the Battle pairs that are made for each other. This powerhouse performance of the iconic ‘Let It Be’ by The Beatles from Tesni and Jason in 2018 belongs on a global stage! Can we have a moment for those high notes?!

Chris James VS Holly Ellison (2018)

A Battle with a difference hit the stage in 2018 when Chris James and Holly Ellison came out fighting with their version of Meatloaf’s ‘I’d Do Anything For Love’, proving that they’d also do anything to secure a place in the next round! What a showstopper.

Bethzienna Williams VS Moya (2019)

We head to 2019 next to relive this Battle of epic proportions between Bethzienna Williams and Moya. Their dramatic, note perfect version of INXS’s ‘Never Tear Us Apart’ for Team J-Hud almost blew the roof off the studio!

Blessing Chitapa VS Beryl McCormack (2020)

We couldn’t talk about the Battles without mentioning one of the most memorable fights of 2020. Blessing Chitapa and Beryl McCormack took Westlife’s ‘Flying Without Wings’ and soared to superstar status with this soulful twist on the 90’s hit. An unbelievable Battle that left us all speechless.
